What is Fat Freezing?

Cryolipolysis also known as fat freezing, is a non-surgical and non-invasive fat reduction treatment that specifically targets areas of the body where pockets of excess fat are commonly stored. By lowering the temperature of the subcutaneous lipid rich cells in the targeted treatment area to -10 degrees, it causes them to crystallise. This initiates the apoptosis process, then the fat cells are naturally disposed through the body’s lymphatic system causing a fat reduction of up to 20-40% per session.

Treatment

During treatment, applicator(s) will be placed onto the area(s) of treatment. The fat is gently drawn into a suction cup, and held into place before freezing. You will experience a vacuum pulsing sensation for the first and last 5 minutes to assist with the breakdown of the crystallised fat.

After the treatment, the applicators are removed and the technician will massage the treated area to assist in breaking up the frozen fat cells. The body will then naturally dispose of the dead fat cells via the liver and lymphatic system, either through urination or through sweat over a period of time following your treatment.

Once the fat cells are broken down, the stored triglycerides into free fatty acids and glycerol need a way to exit the body, hence why straight after treatment you will need to exercise between 10-20 minutes and drink plenty of water to assist the body to naturally eliminate fat cells through your lymphatic system. If these free fatty acids don’t exit the body within a few hours, they get reabsorbed by the other fat cells, and no results can be achieved since your lymphatic system is not actively eliminating it.

Post Treatment
Aftercare

  • An intense quick workout immediately after this procedure ensures that the fat is excreted via the lymphatic system and doesn't get reabsorbed again

  • We recommend at least 30 minutes daily exercise, increasing your water intake and adopting a healthier diet

  • Increase water intake and drink minimum 2L of water a day

Frequently
Asked
Questions

How many treatments will I need?
The number of fat freezing treatments will vary depending on your body composition, the size of the area in which you would like to treat and your personal goals. In most cases, we recommend between 2-4 sessions (in the same area) to achieve the best results (fat reduction of up to 20-40% per session).

How often can I do fat freezing?

The recommended minimum wait time is 30 days before you can get your next fat freezing treatment in the same treatment area. It may be slightly more effective to wait awhile, however ideal results from the treatment are usually seen around the three months after the initial session.

What results can I expect from this treatment?

Results vary from patient to patient due to a combination of factors such as lifestyle choices, activity levels, diet and more. Some patients see results as early as 2-6 weeks post treatment, however full results are seen at approximately the 12 week mark depending on your body’s metabolic rate.

Are the results permanent

Fat freezing is the most effective and popular non-surgical way to permanently remove stubborn pockets of fat. After 2-4 sessions of fat freezing, it is important to maintain the results. This can be done by maintaining your weight, by your normal diet and exercise.

What areas of the body can be treated?
Cryolipolysis can be used to treat multiple areas of the body where excess fat is commonly stored. Some of the common areas of concern are: belly fat, muffin top, love handles, thighs, arm fat, bra bulge/bra-rolls, back fat and more.

Are there any side effects?
During the treatment, you may experience pulling, tugging, pinching, numbness or discomfort. Following your treatment, side effects can include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, tingling and discomfort.

What is the difference between Fat Freezing and Fat Cavitation?

Fat freezing ‘freezes’ pockets of stubborn fat to permanently eliminate and kill fat cells whereas fat cavitation targets fat cells by using ultrasound waves to release stored fat to liquid, free fatty acids which are then metabolised by the body and used for energy.
